I have thought about similar things. The only thing I can come up with is choice. I believe God wants us to choose him. If there were no temptation or hardship what choice would there be? I also believe following in his path (or at least trying to) makes us stronger. Especially when we ask for his help. I think seeing that growth in us is important to God.
